#7675 - June 1861 New York Herald Paper at Start War
This is an original copy of the New York Herald newspaper from June 26, 1861. The nation was in an uproar at start of Civil War. Armies & Navies were moving on both sides. Loaded with very interesting articles focused on anxiety, dismay & confusion as brother fought brother to the death. A Nation freshly shocked! "Appeal to Rebel Chieftan for Peace." Actions in varied theaters. This paper is also jammed with ads & local news. It is 8 pages. It had been bound into a book but has since been split back-up into individual issues. Thus, the left margin is a little distressed and some splits along edge where opposing pages were joined. It is 4 sheets now. Also, it has some very small tears which have been joined with a clear archival cellulose tape. This is good to read or to later frame. One page is 22 1/2" by 15 1/2".
