#7320 - Tintype of Ghost Like Trooper in odd plumed Hat
This is a 1/9-th plate tintype from Civil War of a Union Trooper in a Hardee hat with ostrich plume and Hardee Badge on upturned side brim. He has an Infantry Hunting Horn insignia which I think reads "19" in reverse. Wears a high-collared frock coat. Sadly, the plate suffered from storage & cleaning over the 145 years since taken... The emulsion is heavily scuffed & scratched over entire plate, including his face, which makes it look very spooky and ghost-like, as if a picture of Dracula in a Hardee Hat. If someone were a "reesearching fanatic" there is a remote chance of identifying thius man: We know he was in 19th Regiment Infantry which wore high-collared frocks and Hardee hats. No other ID or source known. This one you buy for the hat insignia and its odd aura! Comes in original tarnished brass mats and a half leatherette case.
