#6545 - Large Tintype of Trooper with hidden Yarrow!
I bought this 1/4-plate tintype in a half case because I was so thrilled to find a sprig of dried Yarrow behind the image! No messages or notes... just the yarrow... What was its meaning to the trooper. The soldier looks to be a Union troop. The studio setting and black-backed tin plate are absolutely correct for the CW decade. But I can not figure out the piping across the frock coat. Is it an uncommon custom decor for a particular CW regiment or could this be a Military School/ Militia unit? The troop looks older than prep school age to me. Nice clarity & contrast to big image of this young scrapper! Price & shipping are for all: the image, brass mats, half case and the yarrow... Bet there is a real story there...
