#6389 - 1863 October Oysters in Chicago!
If you ever dug in old trash pits from the 1800's you will KNOW by the heaps of their shells that oysters were eaten like crazy by Americans in the Nineteenth Century. This is a great receipt from a Chicago supplier of oysters and fruits dated October 19, 1863. It shows an order and prices pain. A very cool "real life" item from the CW period. Men were dieing while oysters were being gobbled in Chicago town!
