#6319 - Civil War Ames Marked Musician Sword Scabbard
This is a Union Civil War Musician's Model 1840 Sword. It has the Ames scroll logo on one side of the ricasso and inspector markings on the other. It is marked in three different places by inspectors' initials. It is from the 1960's CW period. It has a honey brown patina to brass grip. The blade has some scattered surface speckles of rust that would clean off easily if you wished to clean it up further. The original scabbards for Musician Swords are hard to find since the leather often deteriorated in storage and they were thrown away while the sword itself was kept by descendants. This has it's original scabbard with brass throat and drag (inspector marked too!). However, the leather is broken in one place. It is all there and could be repaired in future by a restorer versed in leather crafts. Price is for the sword plus its scabbard. See pictures. Sadly, the shipping of swords has gone up because US Mail and UPS get very challenged on anything heavy or over 30" now.
