#6240 - Tintype of Oliver J. Clawson, 22 nd PA. Vols.
This is a 1/6-th plate tintype of young Union soldier Oliver J. Clawson of the 22-nd Pennsylvania Volunteers. Enlisted 9/16/1862 into Company E and mustered out 9/26/62 at Harrisburg, PA. A brief tour of duty. Wonder why... Buttons tinted gold and trousers blue. Good clarity but slight dark contrast. Comes in its original leatherette case with repaired spine strip. Nice brass mats. Piece paper behind image with his name.
