#6229 - Minie and part of a Pipe from St. Marks, Florida
This is a standard CW Period Union minie and part of a brown clay pipe bowl. Two things in a soldier's life: shooting and smoking. Found with other Civil War era items at St. Marks, Florida which was a prominent Spanish town of the early 1800's. A lighthouse was built there in 1831. During the Civil War the lighthouse tower sustained tremendous damage. A full third of the base was blasted away. It is a very old and historic Gulf port. Fortifications were built here by the Spanish in 1677. Both items sold for this one price.
