#6175 - 1863 Emerson Silver Musician Sword Field Pick-up
This is an 1863 Emerson & Silver Civil War Union Musician's Sword. It has nice markings. Plumb gray blade. No scabbard. Tight all around. It has gold paint on one side indicating it was from a GAR or Museum display in the late 1800's. There is no ID with it. I believe it was a field "pick-up" from a battle area and placed in a Veteran's Display case. If it had been brought home after the war, the blade would likely be brighter. So this came off some battle area in the decade after the CW, since it is not corroded enough to have been there longer. Definitely not dug... A cool item. It could have been at Gettysburg, Chancellorsville or Vicksburg! Sadly, the shipping of swords has gone up because US Mail and UPS get very challenged on anything heavy or over 30" now.
