#5764 - Civil War Hotchkiss Nose Section This is the nose section of a Union Hotchkiss shell from the Civil War. Shows the three-flame grooves style on body. It is dug, so it has medium surface pitting to metal. But it is solid, stable, not flaking away or spalling. No fuze adaptor but has very nice threads for one. Powder chamber is completely empty, so it is fully safe & inert now. There is a loose metal ring stuck inside the chamber rattling around that looks a bit like a seat for an adaptor. Nice example for desk or shelf.
