#5202 - 1/9-th Tintype of handsome Union soldier
This is a 1/9-th Plate tintype of a handsome young Union trooper in a high collared frock coat. Slight pink tint to cheeks. No exact ID. BUt here is the known information about the families in the photo album: The family name from album was Chambers and men's names identified in other photos are Robert Carr and John J. Chambers. The estate sale was in CT - so the descendant's were from CT. Hannah (his wife) was from Ireland - born May 11th, 1836 and died on June 30th 1922. Her mother was Jennie Chambers and her father was John J Chambers. Her husband was Robert Carr. This was all documented in the ambrotype of Hannah - his wife. The ambrotype of Hannah at a young age was from 98 Canal St in New York by J.S. Mayer Photographer. Images of the family, presumably Hannah and Robert, were from the Scovill Mfg. Co. in Waterbury CT. Hense I believe they probably lived in CT. Although - Robert may have lived in NY at one time, since that's where the younger photo of his Hannah was taken.) The picture's contrast is a bit dark. Clarity very good. (Note: The white specks in images shown here are only dust on the surface that is accentuated by the flash) Comes with original glass, brass mats and a full leatherette CW period case.
