#4486 - Nose Section of 3 Inch Union Hotchkiss Shell This is the nose section of a Union 3" Hotchkiss shell. It is a bit rusty & corroded from being in ground for 140+ years. There are some flakes or chips to outer surface. No fuze. You can look right down into the empty charge chamber and see threads in nose hole. There is no charge remaining inside, so this item is fully safe & inert now. There is no lead sabot or base cup part anymore. This has not undergone elctrolysis procedure as yet. Site of recovery unknown.
