#3325 - Civil War Paper: Herald 5/6/1864
This is an edition of the New York "The Herald" newspaper, with eight folded large pages, it was a popular daily publication priced at Three-Cents. It was still made on rag-based paper, so it does not rot or heavily brown like our modern pulp papers. It does have some moderate age spots with minor edge nips and bottom edge crinkled, but overall, is a solid piece suitable for your files or for wall framing. There is always news of the war, political news, events in New York City such as theaters and shows, classified ads and very cool product ads with current prices. Always fun and interesting reading! Great for students doing projects! In this issue: A fine Virginia Map and Impending Conflict (leading toward Cold Harbor)
