#16955 - Civil War NCO sword with battle damage
This is a Union Civil War period NCO sword. There are no markings on it. Full length blade. No scabbard. This obviously was "in the war" because it's knuckle guard is slightly bent and both clamshells are minimally bent upwards. Tiny bit of play between guard and blade. Obviously whoever carrier it through the CW treasured it. The blade was given a bright nickle finish, which was done for GAR parade and display appeal. The grip was polished but it starting to tone down. A true survivor of actual field use! Sadly, the shipping of swords has gone up because US Mail and UPS get very challenged on anything heavy or over 30" now.
