#16844 - Tintype Union private on a stool before milirary drop This is an original Sixth plate tintype of an older Union private sitting casually on a plain foot stool in front of a canvas backdrop with tents. Likely taken by a traveling field photographer chasing troop movements because the set-up and plain stool are very primitive and rushed. Paper on rear image identifies soldier as "J.E. Adams." A great research quest ahead! Dark on contrast. Fourth picture in mat shows dark nature best. Some roughness to emulsion very edge. Comes under original glass in a fancy brass face mat. No case. Maybe you can ID him?
