#16046 - War Torn 1835-1845 Eagle Head Sword
This is a war-damaged early Eaglehead sword as used in decades prior to Civil War. Many carried into CW by older officers. This has nice craftsmanship but was injured by its war efforts! The hand guard is brokewn off. The guard wobbles a bit on the thin blade, which is only 21 inches. I suppose blade was broken when guard got damaged and they resharpened the tip. This came with a metal scabbard of the pre-War militia type. Blade fits into it, but I suspect sword & scabbard were married together later. This is definitely a battle-torn relic for the collector who want war damaged items. Neat. Sadly, the shipping of swords has gone up because US Mail and UPS get very challenged on anything heavy or over 30" now.
