#15884 - Tiemann Heys Saw for serrating thru Brain Cover
This is a "Hey's Saw" used to cut through the tough dura mater which covers the human brain. It's two sets of fine steel teeth are just the thing for getting at wounds. missiles and blood clots. This has the checkered wood handle typical of instruments before advent of steam sterilization. (Just dunk em' in a bloody pan) This one marked "Tiemann" on neck, a major company that made instruments such as this in Civil War era. Neat!
