#15386 - A Bronze cross of Jesus from 58 New York Camp This is a bronze Orthodox Christian crucifix recovered in a 58 th New York Regiment camp in Stafford County Virginia. This was a camp with many Polish & Slavic heritage soldiers. Thus, the Orthodox branch. This was discovered buried with a stash of sutler's discarded goods. It has no top carry loop and is missing one side arm. But center of cross shows Jesus and neat design motifs present, including Cyrillic writing on rear. A cool relic of soldiers' faith in holy protection during war. About 1 and 5/8" high.
