This is a bronze Orthodox Christian crucifix recovered in a 58 th New York Regiment camp in Stafford County Virginia. This was a camp with many Polish & Slavic heritage soldiers. Thus, the Orthodox branch. This was discovered buried with a stash of sutler's discarded goods. It has no loop and is missing one side arm. But center of cross and design motifs present, including Cyrillic writing on rear. A cool relic of soldiers' faith in holy protection during war. About 1 and 1/8" high.
