#15285 - Confederate Brass Fuze Adaptor of Jack Magune
This is a custom cast brass fuse adaptor made during the Civil War for use in CSA shell. Cast by local shops. Recovered in Petersburg many years ago, as noted on yellow envelope of old digger. Private land with permission. Similar adaptor is seen in Mason's 2nd Artillery book. According to renowned CW historian Bill Howard, The handwriting on the old manila envelope is distinctive to early CW dealer Jack Magune who ran the "House of Billy Yank" in Worcester, Mass in 1970s. Jack was a WWII Marine Vet who was wounded on Iwo Jima. He knew all the early CW collectors, such as Francis Lord, Bill Gavin, Mac Mason and Stan Phillips. A true patriot and historian!
