#15057 - Model 1860 Cavalry Saber & Scabbard BOSCO
This is a Model 1860 US Civil War Cavalry Saber with its nicely-fitting iron scabbard. No rust or pitting, but has been cleaned in past. Tip had been nicked and was sharpened over the years. Blade still about 35". Overall sword and scabbard are 42. (Grip then 7") Blade tight in grip. No maker marks on blade. Some leather covering loss on grip. Braided wire mostly gone from over leather. A worn bumper guard exists: Interestingly, the guard is impressed with name: BOSCO. I am not sure if that is a trooper's name, nickname, or a town/unit. But some research might later shed some light. This is not a perfect, unused "dress" sword. It was used, nicked, sharpened and worn. Examine photos closely as they tell it all... Still a lovely example for your wall or rack. Sadly, the shipping of swords has gone up because US Mail and UPS get very challenged on anything heavy or over 30" now.
