#14891 - 77 th New York GAR with tent canteen muskets
This is a Victorian Era photograph mounted on an original 7 1/2" by 9 1/2" backing board. It shows an old GAR veteran with two female relatives lounging outside an encampment tent. The canteen and cartridge box identify the 77 th Regiment. On the back is a name I cannot decipher, but says "Auburn, NY", so this old Civil War vet fought in the 77 th New York Regiment. Also has a stack of muskets in front of the tent. He bears a sword and shoulder boards which imply he had been an officer. It comes in a simple wood frame (modern) which compliments it well.
