#14824 - Smith Marked Puppy Paw US belt with tropper initials
This is an early Civil War Union US beltplate with traces of old W. H. Smith maker (Brooklyn) markings on rear lead. It has dings over face and rims from actual wartime use. Sweet honey patina color to brass. Non Excavated. It also has an unmarked leather belt attached. The rear lead has three sets of initials hand carved in back. They are, HL , KL and EL, making it quite personalized to some trooper. There is some surface crazing to the 33 inch long belt but supple enough still to fold and straighten out. A great combination for a collector who demands item that were actually worn during the Civil War!
