#14812 - Tarred Canvas Union 1864 marked Knapsack
This is the later Civil War tarred canvas fold-open knapsack for Union privates. One leather strap is impressed by US Inspector Richards name and August 1864 date. These knapsacks are usually quite fragile, but this one is largely intact with some small side splits and leather strap cracks. It is packed-out with soft foam to give it body and form. One picture shows it unfolded open to inside. This was barn found which is amazing! About 15 inches by 12". Would look good on shelf or carefully mounted to a uniformed mannequin.
