#14755 - Large Cannister ring from Pleasant Hill, Louisiana
This is a large, slick iron ring for containing balls in a stand of grape. (See example photograph) It was labeled 24 Pound Canister by prior owner on his card, but since about 6 inches, I think it was more a 32 pounder. The ring has some slight pitting. Dark and slick from electrolysis. Solid and not flaking. Has a light overall poly coating now. Recovered on private land years ago by Terry Waxman at Pleasant Hill, LA (Last major battle of River campaign in Louisiana) These are not coming out of ground so pretty anymore! A tough item for the Projectile specialist. (Last photo is only an example of full stand of grape. Not what is for sale)
