#14496 - Cased Tintype of Artilleryman with kinky beard This is a 1/9-th plate tintype of a rather dapper-looking Union artilleryman with a flavor-saver type beard. There are gold-accented shoulder scales and buttons. The piping of his uniform is actually highlighted in old red paint by the photographer, indicating him to be in the Artillery branch of service. His kepi bears a gold accented buckle as well. The image is a little dark with minor scuffs and very soft bends. It comes in a super full leatherette case. The brass mat is a field of impressed stars! No ID yet known. An interesting variant from the standard young infantry privates we always see in tins.
