#1229 - 1/8 Plate Tintype of seated Union Private A nice casual pose of a Union private with hands folded on his knees. In a patriotic paper mat with stars ringing the opening. Written in pencil on front: My Father Civil War. On back tape in pencil "Oct. 1865". So, probably taken before being mustered out at end of war. Tin is 3 1/2" x 2". No flaking or emulsion loss.
