Riker Cases: These shallow boxes act like a padded shadowbox. They are made of Pressed cardboard that is painted black. The lid has glass glued to its underside. The lower half of box is filled with a cottony pad for the item. When the lid is slid down over the lower half, it holds the item snugly against the cotton, and lets it show through the glass. These are wonderful for everything except very delicate items, since the lid presses the item directly. You can put a piece of colored felt or velvet on cotton pad for nice contrast effect.
Modified Riker Button Case: Again, these depend on the glass topped lid to show the objects. However, in this case, a cardboard insert rests inside the box rather than cotton pad. The insert is perforated with orderly rows of holes into which one places individual snap-together button holders which are made of clear plastic. When closed, the glass lid shows the neat rows of individually held buttons quite attractively. Preformed Divided Inserts/ Riker Box: Another nice variation of the riker style, is the preformed plastic insert that is divided into many tray compartments much like an egg carton. The size of each grid square can vary depending on what kind you buy. These are colored blue, black, or red. They act like a divided tray, but with the top of the riker box lowered to hold items in their assigned places. Standard Wooden Display Cases: The cases shown below are made in America from natural woods. They are an excellent step up from the black cardboard Riker cases for your better quality collectibles and relics. They can be had in any of three basic fine woods: light oak, dark oak, or walnut. The construction is very professional for the price, with mitered corners and snug fit between top & bottom sections. To top it off, the rear hinges and snap latches up front are in a fine brass finish. These show so well! Your possessions would look wonderful, and be much better protected, under the glass of one of these. They're great for groupings, such as insignia and bullets. But you can use them for just about anything! Inside, your items will rest on a foam pad cushion; but you can change the background color yourself by putting a piece of felt or velveteen fabric over the foam. I recommend these highly. Craftsman Custom Button Boxes These boxes are the Cadillacs! These are individually made by a highly skilled craftsman in Virginia! His work is superb in every way, and it is a pleasure to recommend his work. Pieces are generally made in choice of medium oak or darker walnut woods. In some cases, a rich cherry can be "special" ordered at a slightly higher cost. These are double coated with a smooth mat poly finish that protects but does not glare.The top and botton sections are miter jointed with righteous precision. And when closed, the fit is snug and dead on center. On small cases, the latch is a delicate arrow scroll design. Bigger cases have brass flip latches for added strength. But with these little wonders the luxury only increases on the inside. Solid wood sheets are smooth edge routed to create holes to house your buttons. This wood being secured with fine brass wood screws, creating a regal look! The cusion in back is foam pad, but it is covered with red, gray, green, blue, or burgundy felt, which shows through the mitered button window! Stunning!!! You pick the color of felt backdrop. (But experience of many years says red and black look best.) These button cases come in various sizes to accomodate different nmbers of buttons, depending on your needs. A "single button" case is even available for your scarce or most beloved! Frankly, for the price, these are one of the last great American bargains! They speak of pride. Not only for the real pride taken in making them, but the pride we have for the buttons we put into them. One more thing; pride for the men that wore them. Why not buy a great case!
